There are literally hundreds of hotels to choose from in the area, and where you choose depends on what you plan to do in the area.
If you are going to be sticking close to Universal Studios, you might want to consider one of their resorts or something on International Drive.
There’s the Peabody & the Rosen hotels near the Convention Center.
If you plan to spend most of your time at Disney, think about staying onsite, in Kissimmee ( ) or in Lake Buena Vista ( ).
Disney has “value” resorts for around $100 per nite. If you are really looking at saving some money, try the Meridian Orlando Maingate for standard rooms at a really low price (great for those last minute trips).
Since there’s so much to choose from, you’ll find competitive rates and clean rooms most places.
You can click “Check Availability” on any of the links above and check for rates and book online.
Have fun!

Disney has some great hotels but they can be pricey. The best bet is to read reviews of hotels around Disney and Universal that offer shuttle services. A shuttle ride is free and you dont have to worry about parking or paying for good parking. Many hotels in Kissimee are about 45 dollars a night, which is an excellent rate. If you need to stay at Disney and have tons of money to spend on it consider doing a Disney Vacation package with disney online. The disney sites online offer perks with tickets and rooms, and hotel guest get in early during the week. Disney hotels offer great transportation to the parks and attractions. I think the Disney Boardwalk hotel is great, it has dance classes on Tuesday nights, and a great piano bar. The Polynessian Resort is also great, and has a great luau. (one of the better ones in the area)

There are so many hotels around the Disney area they are tough to count. My only recommendation for you would be that if you are visitng Disney, stay in a Disney resort. The Disney resorts are comparable pricewise to anything else that Orlando has to offer, and the perks that are reserved for resort guests make it all worthwhile. For example, unlimited use of the Disney transportation system. Now, the off site hotels all have shuttle service, but some of them cost extra and then you are on their time schedule, not yours. Then there is the Extra Magic Hours, where one park opens early and one stays open late, again for resort guests only. There is the Disney Magical express free shuttle to and from the airport, the famous Disney service, and much more. Staying on site is the only way to go, no matter if you stay in a value resort, moderate, or deluxe. Check out the Disney website and do a resort comparison to pick one out. Also, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board all about going to Disney. You can get resort reviews, dining reviews, resort comparisons, advice, trip reports, and much more. The website is just full of info. I am a Disney veteran, and I always learn something new for our next trip from disboards.
I do have a favorite that I have stayed in from each category (if that helps.)
Value - All-Star Movies - Decor is all Disney movies. Kids really get a kick out of the resort. Pool is HUGE, food court is very good, but rooms are on the small side, which was not really a problem for us.
Moderate - Caribbean Beach resort - bigger than the value resorts. Rooms bigger, resort a bit more quiet. Each wing has it’s own pool, but the themed pool is huge and really cool. Food court is good, and there is also a sit down restaurant.
Deluxe - Polynesian - my favorite resort. Large resort that make you feel you were transported to a tropical paridise. Rooms are huge, food excellent. Closest to the Magic Kingdom (we were able to see Cinderella’s castle from our room.)
Vacation Club - Saratoga Springs - If Poly is my #1, this one is #1A. Non-Vacation Club members can stay here based on availability, pricewise like a deluxe resort. Resort is HUGE, so when it is at full capacity is still does not feel like it. Pool is also big, and has a great water slide. Food was outstanding, and each room also comes with a kitchenette or full kitchen, depending on the size room (a home away from home resort.)
Hope this helps, have a great trip!
