Heading to Disney World in August with just my husband. We have been there with the kids a lot, but never as a couple. Any ideas, hints, suggestions to make this a memorable, romantic trip?

My boyfriend and I stay at the Polynesian Resort, it’s very romantic. We get a room with a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. It’s the perfect Resort for couples. At night we enjoy walking along the beach, seeing the Grand Floridian and Contemporary Resorts all lit up across the Lagoon, and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks while laying in one of the hammocks. The Spirit Of Aloha Dinner Show (Polynesian Luau) is great. There’s a couple great restaurants in the Resort, as well as the Tambu Lounge. For a romantic dinner, we always walk next door to the Grand Floridian Resort and have dinner at Narcoossee’s. The food is excellent, as well as the atmosphere and service. Very romantic, especially when they dim the lights for the Magic Kingdom fireworks and have the music live from the Park piped into the restaurant. You can see them from your seat through the window or go outside on the deck.

Downtown Disney’s also great for adults. There’s the AMC 24-Theatre Complex, House of Blues, Bongos Cuban Cafe, Pleasure Island, and Cirque Du Soleil: La Nouba, which you can not miss.

My boyfriend and I always go just the two of us, and we always have the most amazing, romantic, memorable time. I’m sure you will, too! Have fun!

If you want to do a “clubbing” scene, Disney style, go to Pleasure Island, it’s got several fun clubs, all family friendly. Check out the Adventurer’s Club for sure, it’s great in there. If you want a romantic dinner you won’t EVER forget, head to Victoria and Albert’s in the Grand Floridian Resort (coat and tie required for men though–only place in WDW that has a dress code.) Call for priority seating on that NOW though. Watch the Epcot Illuminations show from the 2nd deck in the Japanese restaurant. Book dinner at the restaurant on top of the Contemporary resort (I’m thinking it’s called the California Grill), but time it so that you can see the MK fireworks out the windows there–that’s breathtaking.

Check out the Disney web site,, there’s a section there that you can pull down for romantic ideas. My husband and I went to Disney once w/o the kids, and it was great!! I’d do it again! Have fun!

Polynesian is great for couples. You can also go to Disney.com & look up romantic getaways with Disney & they can suggest stuff for you. Another good idea is PI (Pleasure Island), alot of 21 & older clubs that are great.

There is so much to do at Disney World, especially for adults. Depending on what type of vacation you would like, you can customize your experience.

If you want a romantic experience, you could stay at the Grand Floridian resort and spa. The Grand Floridian is the most expensive resort on property, but it’s also the most elegant and romantic resort. It also has a spa where you can get massages, work out and relax. The restaurants at the Grand Floridian are very fancy and romantic. There is Narcoosee’s and Victoria and Albert’s, which are amazing. I proposed to my fiance after dinner at Citricos and proposed outside by the fountain in the courtyard. It’d definitely ideal for romance. (You can also order romantic getaway packages that include spa trips, champagne, etc.)

If you two enjoy outside sports, Disney offers golf, tennis, boating and fishing all over property.Another good resort is Saratogo Springs. It’s conveniently located close to the golf course and they also have tennis courts as well.

I’ve attached a link to the official website that explains more about the types of experiences and what all Disney offers.

We went in 2004 with my sister, niece and her kids. Then last Sept. I went with my 2 sisters, my other niece (40 yrs old) and my son (25 yrs old). So it was 5 adults. We had the time of our lives.

Epcot is much better without children. You can take your time and explore the different countries’ pavillions. We did wine tastings at (I believe it was) France, Germany, and Italy. We even bought a bottle of wine back to the resort and drank it in our room.

The Spirit of Aloha luau at the Polynesian resort is nice too. I would suggest checking out the fireworks cruise, also.

    Have a great trip!
PS I am going there, too, in Sept again. I can’t wait. This time there will be 8 of us. 6 adults & 2 kids.

Good for you! A lot of adults think of Disney World as something that’s only fun for the kids, but the truth is, there’s so much to do for everyone!
If you like golfing, Disney has several beautiful golf courses that were designed by professional golfers and actually host professional tournaments throughout the year. If golf isn’t your thing, there’s tennis, biking, boating, fishing and horseback riding throughout property.
There’s also full-service spas at both the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs- both are gorgeous, and each offers unique treatments.
And if you’re foodies, you’ll be in heaven! You can have a complete afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian, which also has the only 5-star restaurant in Central Florida, Victoria and Alberts.
Two of my favorite restaurants are Narcoossee’s, a seafood restaurant at the Grand Floridian, and the California Grill, which serves Californian cuisine at the Contemporary. Both have fabulous views of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom!

There’s also the Cirque du Soliel show, La Nouba, at Downtown Disney– it’s very impressive!
Also at Downtown Disney is Pleasure Island, which is sort of a night club district. You pay one admission, and have access to all of the clubs, which include a comedy club, as well as clubs that play almost every genre of music!

TONS! Oh you’ll have so much fun. My husband and I met at Disney World while working for the mouse and we go back as often as we can, just the two of us. Here are our favorite things to do together at Disney World:

*Rent a mouse boat (small boat) at the Wilderness Lodge Resort. Make your reservation for about 9pm one night and you’ll have lake seats for the Magic Kingdom fireworks!
*Have dinner at the Polynesian Resort one night — at the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. You’ll feel like you’ve gone to Hawaii — Disney style!
*After dinner at the Polynesian, take a walk around Bay Lake. Walk inside the Disney wedding chapel and just sit and enjoy each other’s company (provided a wedding isn’t taking place) :) *Stroll around Downtown Disney Marketplace or go to Pleasure Island at night and dance the night away! Be sure to stop by the Comedy Club. It’s the best!
*If you two are athletic or are up for an adventure, take surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon! Every day, before the park opens, they offer surfing lessons for a group of up to 14 I believe. I can’t recall the cost, but you can research it at. I’ve heard its a blast!
