Walt Disney World or Universal Studios? Which is better and why?
The children are 10 and 4.

Walt Disney for kids. They have rides specifically designed for them. To be slow and flashy. Like “It’s a small world” and “The Peter Pan Ride”. It’s craziest ride is “Mr. Frogs Wild Ride”. Universal for older kids to adults. Wild they do have several things a small kid could enjoy, they mostlly have rides like the hulk that shoot you out of a tube from 0 to 60 in no time flat.

I prefer Universal Studios to WDW because it appeals to a wider range in ages and is much more affordable. I feel WDW is limited with rides and other attractions in Magic Kingdom, Epcot appeals more to adults, Animal Kingdom is fun, but also…limited.
Universal Studios has a 5 or 7 day pass for under $100, so you don’t have to worry about not getting to do what you want in a specific time frame, you can do it all and more than once. Universal has a lot for kids of all ages and adults. They have Shrek, Scooby Doo, all Nickelodian characters like Dora the Explorer, Jimmy Neutron and Sponge Bob Square Pants, and then Marvel Comic World for older kids and adults. They also have live feeds for shows on Nik and a water park area which can be fun. They have rides of all sizes and different areas of enjoyment. My niece who is 11 and nephew who is 9 prefer Universal every year since I first brought them 4 years earlier.
Also, the hotels at Universal appeal more to the masses, are right in between both parks and CityWalk - is chock full of things to do all day and night long. The Hard Rock Hotel has a beach and feature speakers under water in the pool. I can’t say enough about Universal.
Perhaps try Universal’s 7 day / 2 park pass and maybe one or two Disney Parks like Sea World and Magic Kingdom. You get the best of both worlds and your kids will love getting the autographs from characters. If you get the chance, maybe reserving lunch with the characters in Magic Kingdom will make it more memorable.

My family personally loves Disney over Universal Studios because there are so many things to see and do for kids of all ages. However, if you have already been to Disney, then definately try Universal. Your 10-year-old, if he likes thrill rides, will probably like Islands of Adventure. They have a lot more of the heart stopping rides. Your 4-year-old will probably prefer WDW. There are so many more things for him/her to do there. When we went in June, my kids (6 and 4) really didn’t care for Universal Studios because there was not a lot of things for them to ride, they are not into the high thrilling roller coaster rides. When we went we ended up leaving the parks early, however, when we went to WDW we stayed from park opening until closing. Hope this helps some.

Magic Kingdom by far is best for a 4 yr old. I have grown up in Orlando all my life, mom of 4 boys, so ive seen them all grow… Disney BY FAR!
If your into rollercoasters, Islands of Adventure, its a very cool park, not much for the little ones and not much for the little ones at Universal either!!
Magic Kingdom..Hands down!

If you can only choose one, Disney is the way to go. I love both parks and my family has annual passes to Universal right now, but I don’t believe that there is enough to keep two kids happy for an entire vacation. (My kids don’t even last an entire day.) There are some great things for kids, especially in Universal moreso than Islands of Adventure. The curious george area is a great water play area for kids (and adults on hot days!). There is a small play area for your four year old as well. These things aren’t going to keep them entertained for several days.
I don’t know how many days you plan on visiting, but I would say that Islands of Adventure would have your four year old bored before the day was out.
Disney has so much more for the whole family.

Disney World attracts families. Where I think Universal Studios does not. Disney World accomodates all its rides so that a FAMILY can ride toghter. Everything they do, they accomodate it so that a family can do it togther. Plus, Disney goes out of its way for the most part to make you happy, even if your wrong.
For example: I have 6 people in my family, and we go to Disney every year because we get treated so well there. My mom lost our stroller in the stroller parking area, my step dad went to take my sister to the bathroom. My brother was no where to be found, etc… It was a mess, and all we were trying to do was get to the Haunted Mansion. A disney castmember noticed my mothers frustration in trying to search for our stroller, the cast member helped find our stroller, then asked my mom how many memebers were in our family. She told him 6, and he handed my mother 6 fast passes to the Haunted Mansion!
Another thing about Disney: When your child gets lost, they are found ASAP. My sister got lost at Epcot one day, we alerted a Disney cast member, who immediately alerted another Disney cast member via radio, and with in moments…they had my lost sister in hand!
DISNEY IS BETTER!

I would say Disney. Even as an adult, I prefer Disney, but I especially did as a kid their ages. In my opinion Universal Studios doesn’t have much to offer. Most of their rides are getting quite outdated now. There are a couple of good ones still, and a couple of good shows. I usually visit it every 3 trips to Disney. Islands of Adventure, their second park, is much better. But it is still just (to me) a half-day park, and most of their good rides are thrill rides that your kids will be too short for.
There are just a few rides at Disney that your 4 year old won’t be tall enough for. Almost everything your whole family can do together. Plus you’ll get to experience that Disney Magic!

For your kids i would go to Walt Disney b/c the rides are more for kids.. but if they like thrill then universal would be better!!

Not even a question- DISNEY WORLD! Universal is really starting to look old and worn. Disney is DESIGNED for your kids ages, they will love it.

Disney is geared more towards kids and Universal tragets an older audience. Although, there are some things for the kids to do at Universal, Disney is a better choice, because it will keep both busy all day, espcially the 4 year old.

Walt Disney World!!!!!! They are more kid friendly, cleaner, and all around better. Universal doesn’t have a lot for the four year old to do, and possibly the ten year old, depending on their height and whether or not he/she likes roller caosters. Disney is much nicer, cleaner, has more and better rides for them to ride. I have tried both and will never go to Universal again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Hope this helps and have a great trip!!! check out allearsnet.com for tons of info on Walt Disney World and it also has info on Universal.

If your children are that young then I would say Disney. Universal has more of a bias towards thrill rides, and many that my little cousins found scary when I went when they were little. Disney has mostly kid-friendly attractions, with some thrill rides. That and Disney has more parks then Universal, so there is more to do. I would save Universal for when they are older. Not that Universal’s bad, it’s a great park, it’s just Disney has more stuff for kids.

well they are both great. I have been to both and struggle every time I go to deside which one to visit that time. If you have been to disney I think you should do universal and its cheaper which is a plus. although saying that i am back to disney on my next visit. I dont think you can beat the mouse lol

Disney, hands down. There is so much more to do in all the different parks and there are a ton of hotels to choose from. Each hotel has a theme and offers something different. The kids and the adults will love it, its truly a place that all ages will enjoy.

Walt Disney world is clearly the better choice. It was there before Universal was. Universal is a copy of Disney. Disney was created for all age groups. 4 huge parks at Disney compared to 2 at Universal. You get more for your money with Disney..We go every year, we know whats best!

I would say Disney because you are almost guaranteed to get on every ride, where as in universal, it has many bigger rides which your children may not get on, such as the roller coasters etc. you may go there and only get half the attractions done. i think for their age Disney is better suited as you will see the majority of things. i would still go to universal if you could as it is a great park but Disney 1st.
