I’m a twenty-something and my two friend and I would like to visit Disney World, but we are on a very tight budget and have a distance to travel from South Dakota. We are looking for the best way to shop for air fare, hotel, food and park tickets.

get a job there and you get in for free. seriously not a smart ass answer its easy to get a job there and you can work like 5 times a year if you want and you still get a id to get in free and free passes to let friends and family in 4 times a year. i work for a third party company (kodak) part time and i get all those perks too.

I wouldn’t fly. Take turns driving and camp along the way. Then, camp in Orlando where the average price for a hotel room is ~$150. and up.

I grew up near Orlando. I agree that driving (even renting a car or van)would be your best mode of travel to Disney.
DO-NOT get a hotel or motel room in the city “proper”, unless you’ve got $80-150 to spend on lodging every night! At the very least, if you MUST have a hotel/motel room, look for rooms near Daytona, Gainesville, St. Augustine, ETC. and DRIVE the extra distance. In fact, if you look very hard you might find a FANTASTIC deal on a “Condo” or National/State Park “cabin”.Look long enough and something will pop up!
As far as “camping” is concerned, unless you are going Jan-Feb, it will be WAY too HOT to spend a night under the stars,(unless you are “super-wasted” most of the time…lol). If you plan on going April-June plan on at LEAST 1-2 “showers”-storms a DAY! (I don’t know about you, but after “walking” Disney/ Universal Studios all day , I like a clean bed, AC, and something more “waterproof” than a TENT!)
Save money By bringing your own food! Food is SUPER expensive inside the park; Carry packed sandwich’s/chips in a purse or fanny-pack. Figure the ABSOLUTE lowest amount of money you are going to spend in a day will be between $100-125 per person( that would include lodging, lunch, dinner, tickets).
Obviously, Priceline.com and other Travel agent businesses may have “tours”. Thoroughly search the Internet and you will eventually find something in your “price-range”. Good Luck!

I recommend staying at one of the budget motels along Highway 192 in Kissimmee. You can often get simple (which means two beds and a bath, relatively clean) rooms for about $30-40 a night. Since you’ll probably only be in your room to sleep and shower anyway, you won’t need a lot of frills. Most hotels/motels along 192 offer free breakfasts, which won’t be fabulous meals but it’ll take care of one meal each day for you. The bulk of your money will probably go toward park tickets, which can run $100+ per person depending on how many parks you want to go to and how long you’ll be staying.
As for airfare, I’d recommend driving if you have the time and stamina for it. You’ll need a car to get around here unless you stay on Disney property or at a hotel that has a shuttle to the parks.
Food is pricey inside the parks and on Disney and Universal property, but there are plenty of chain restaurants outside the parks where you can eat for reasonable amounts. Also consider getting a room with a fridge that you can stock with water, soda, etc.

I would check out discount disney if you want a cheap way to stay at Disney. I would try Orbitz.com. I would also recomend staying in Kissimee or St. Cloud, Orlando is going to be more expensive and Kissimee and St. Cloud are closer to Disney. Check out Kissimee and St. Cloud’s website to check out food/lodding there. Also check out Disney fan websites to give you extra insight on where to stay. I also recently found the hotelcorp site, I haven’t used it yet but it looks like good deals. Hope this helps
